Partners in CrimeEpisode 1 TrailerDonna is determined to find the Doctor again - even if it means braving the villainous Miss Foster and her hordes of sinister Adipose.

Ok... I was not expecting that. But I digress.
I love the new theme tune. It makes it all the more... fun. Exciting. A little more epic. (epic and fun don't go together I know but shhh...)
Opening sequences, I thought, uh oh, cheap, tacky, another Slitheen episode. But it was great. It picked up pace. Was fast, fun, and at the same time had moments of epicness and sadness.
And then, ROSE OH MY GOD.

I can't stop jumping up and down now!
It was a not bad episode, a bit lighter for once. A few laughs.
But...Oh my god, Rose!!!!
*jumps more*

I ACTUALLY JUMPED UP AND DOWN ON THE SOFA> NEVER SAW THAT COMING.

Long and Short of it is I loved every second of that episode. nuff said.

Well, there were a few issues with visual effects I think. But the acting was sound, the story was pretty sound, and some nice directing decisions I think. All in all, a strong begining.
Rose apearing, obviously looking for the Doctor was a nice twist to the end. Obviously everyone knew she was coming back, but not this soon. I imagine she'll pop up from time to tim, chasing the Doctor, in much the same way Donna was. I see it as almost a reflection of Donna in a way. Her vanishing into nothing, was a clip I had seen, that had been associated with the Doctor Lite episode, that had everyone going "OMG why would she just walk away?" So I think the people at Dr Who, aren't entirely truthful, and I think they have something up their sleeve.
I loved the Adipose. Lovely little creation there. Nice idea. And it works in a way, if only it wasn't controlled by someone a little unhinged. (But you can say that for a lot of control structures.)
I am very glad Catherine Tate is back. David Tennent also did a great job. Also loved Granddad. He was great. Like a true steriotypical consruct. I wish mine was like that. Scarily, her mother is oddly like mine...
And loving the Independence Day references.

Bernard Cribbins is one of the best actors ever.
And it was actually a Close Encounter's Ref.
Donna rules. I said it then., I'll repeat it now.
And the scene through the windows was one of the single funniest things ever...and the Doctor with the luggage. I died.
Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Sorry, I was very young when Close Encounters came out. Independence Day had similar. Probably in homage (which is my word of the way) to that film.

Well well well. That was a turn up for the books. I see they went back down the route of children's TV, and after Series 3 had been so dark. It was a bit of a shame. Though they did get some nice moments in.
"Mad Martha, Blind Martha, Charity Martha." Made me laugh so much I stopped breathing there for a moment.
I wait for next week, with an odd sense of dread and excitement.

They are ripping it to shreds this morning in he papers. I feel a little saddened by that. It might have been more kiddie friendly this time round, but I laughed until I nearly died. And I'm aaaaall growed up. Oh they have also said that DT is signed for Series 5. And erm... well, I always believe what I read in the press. *cough*

ROSE! *bounces* I loved this episode. I laughed so hard during the window conversation ;D I've got to admit, I did have my doubts about Donna, but now I've seen her in another episode, I'm liking her ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I'm not sure if it's totally aimed at kiddie. I mean somewhere along the line they've got to scare the kids so I'm waiting an seeing.
Oh and the conversation about mating. "you want to mate" "No I want a mate" was brilliant.

Yes, RTD said after the darkness of series 3 that he would lift it a bit for children. So that was him doing that lol. Next week is on a little later, so it may be more 'grrrrr'.
And yes, it was hilarious. I'm 21 and found it funny. It wasn't humour just for kiddies.

I conquer with Voodoo (see Episode 2 discussion), Tate is a comical genius. Her delivery was spot on and the scripts were obviously written to suit her needs. The miming scene made me laugh so hard I may have had some leakage. The whole episode was hilarious. I would however like to see a little more of the scare factor next week, but as a series opener, this was very strong. I just hope they get the balance of the show right, and don't go too 'teletubby'. Doctor Who was always scary, it needs to find that a little. But I have high hopes.
