Hmmm, I'm not too sure what I think about Doc 11 yet. I shall hold out my judgement until I see him in a couple of eps

aye. i didn't like the clip of him from the end of the new year special, but i must say the trailer looks exciting. he seems very tennant-esque, but perhaps a little more action and a little more violent. we all love a good fight scene.

That's what I thought. In fact I thought he was very tennant-esque, especially with the 'legs! I have legs... etc' part. Now I'm not saying it's bad to be like this, I just thought that perhaps they'd want to put a different spin on the Doctor role, rather than just having a tennant copy cat. But the trailer did look very good so there is hope yet! Huzzah to the fight scenes lol

I am supposing he will be Tennant-esque and then some. An escalating insanity as it were. I shouldn't worry, we all complained about David Tennant when he took over. "Too comic" we said, "Looks like a weasel." Give Smith the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure once he settles into the role he will be super.
You also have to remember, his introduction would have been scripted the way it was. Having had no experience of playing the Doctor he will, he will stick with what he knows for the time being. The "legs, I have legs" moment would have been scripted that way to give viewers a sense of normality as many have only ever seen the Tennant regeneration, and reassures younger viewers that it is STILL the Doctor. It is also mildly funny, so uplifting. It's never a good idea to end on pure devastation.
My favourite line would have been "I'm a girl!" thus introducing the idea that the Doctor COULD be a girl. They can go anywhere with the next regeneration now.
*shudders to think*

My inside sources (mostly people I know who have worked with/are currently working with) said Smith is that he is awesome.
I suspect he's too good an actor to just tip off Tennant, but even if he does I don't care. The reason DT worked was that his performance embodied with balance everything the Doctor is/was. He wasn't just playing himself after all. I actually also think it's kind of insulting therefore to suggest that he's ripping off Tennant by simply embodying age old Doctorish traits, you may aswell say Tennant ripped off Tom Baker.
Personally I can't wait to see what he does with it.
I just hope he keeps his head down, the tabloids are going to be after his hind. No late night soho drinking binges for this poor twenty-year old!

hummmmm not really. there are obvious differences between each Doctor. though it has been said that tennant is very like tom baker, though i do think it's a combo of baker and the eighth doc, who right at this second i cant recall thje name of and feel a little embarressed cos i cant... but yeah i will wait and see cos it is unfair to judge the guy based on one 30 second clip. i also look forward to much improve writing. as for binges in soho... well this twenty three year old doesn't get to do that so why should he? grrrr
