It's scary how much he looks like Spock. I'm so excited about this movie, but somehow I don't trust JJ Abrams with it (I don't want it to end up like Lost or something).

hows it going to end up like lost? its not gonna drag on for 5 years and seeing as the script was written as a whole and not segments on a weekly basis, it should have some direction. As for Abrams i am told he is a good director, and he has done some great work. I am also told he is a big star trek fan. my main concern is continuity from the original series and films. The new series, Enterprise seemed to ignore this, but pulled it back last season after listening to fan feedback. i hope the same critisism is taken on bored for the film. I imagine if Abrams is a fan, he wont let anyone do anything too horrible to the show. Also, the new bridge and ship looks spiffing, even if the new designs do not fit the sort of backwards evolution you would expect. also have you seen the effort these guys have gone to to get actors who look like the originals. I would say there is some good casting on this.
personally i have high hopes. Mostly because they KNOW after the disaster of the last film, if they cock this up, they will be in deep doodoo.

And Simon Pegg's in it too. He's playing Scotty, which is a good role for him.

I always thought Scotty was one of the funniest characters on the original Star Trek. Him and Bones. And I can't wait to see how John Cho does as Sulu (I really think it should've been someone like Masi Oka or James Kyson Lee as Sulu, particularly Masi because of his ability to do a really good Takei impersonation).

Yes but the style of humour is different. Simon Pegg in films is generally quite ott, whilst scotty is understated.
As for Masi Oka. No. I have never seen him in a serious role. I would hate for his first to be an expermimentation on such an important and long awaited film.
