The Challenge:
it must be a dr/Rose shippy fic
it must be fairy tail like (though not a rewrite of a fairy tale)
must start 'once upon a time' and end 'and they all lived happily ever after'
no angst
So, without further ado, i present to you, TARDIS Tales
“Once Upon a time,” began the Doctor in a smooth voice. “There was a little blue box, called the TARDIS. This wasn’t any box though. This box was much bigger on the inside, thanks to its transdimentional occulasion field.”
“Too technical.” Said Rose.
The Doctor glared at her. “The Doctor, Rose and Jack all lived inside the box and used it to travel through time and space, having lots of adventures alone the way. One day, the TARDIS took them to moon in the Persiphonial nebula called Oratagon-3…”
“Too complicated,” said Rose. “Keep it simple.”
“Who’s telling this?” he asked.
“Sorry!”
“Hecklers,” he muttered under his breath. “Now then, on this moon lived a lot of scary looking aliens called the Bewlar. But although they looked big and scary, the Bewlar were actually very nice and gentle people.
“When the Doctor, Rose and Jack arrived, they found the Bewlar looking sad. ‘What’s up?’ the Doctor asked them. ‘We are enslaved to the Grand Emperor,’ they told him. ‘She has taken our children and if we do not work for her, she will kill them’. Well, the Doctor didn’t like the sound of this.
“Rose asked them where the children had been taken and the Bewlar told her they were in the dungeon of the palace, where the Emperor lived. The Doctor, Rose and Jack sat down together and after thinking about it for a while, they came up with a plan.
“Jack convinced the Bewlar that being so big and fierce looking they could turn the tables on the guards watching them and take their weapons from them. Then, if they were quick, storm the palace and rescue their children before they could come to any harm. The Bewlar didn’t like hurting people, but if they could save their children, they agreed to try.
“So the word was spread throughout the people on the moon, and at the appointed time, the Bewlar turned on their captors, taking their shock guns before the guards could use them to burn the Bewlar.”
“That’s a bit graphic, Doc.” Said Jack.
“It’s the truth.”
“Still, you might want to tone it down a little.”
“Fine. So the Bewlar turned on their captors, taking their feathers before the guards could use them to tickle the Bewlar knees. The Bewlar had very ticklish knees.”
“Much better.”
“The Bewlar were so quick, the guards had no time to call for reinforcements. Once the guards had been rounded up, the Bewlar, along with the Doctor, Rose and Jack headed for the palace.
“Once there, they soon broke through the gates, using their size and strength to batter their way in. They found the Grand Emperor in the throne room and demanded the return of their children, or they would kill her.”
“Doctor!” said Rose.
“OK, OK! They nicely asked for their children to be returned or else they would paint the whole palace bright yellow. Better?” he asked, somewhat annoyed at the interruptions.
“Much,” agreed both Jack and Rose.
“The Emperor said she would, but as she went to lead them down to the dungeon, where the children were kept, she grabbed Rose and threatened to… make her eat muesli if the Bewlar didn’t go back to work.”
Rose and Jack smiled at the substitution.
“The Bewlar liked Rose because she was nice to them and they felt protective of her because she was so small. They decided they didn’t want to see her eat muesli and said they would go back to work.
“The Doctor and Jack didn’t like this but they didn’t want to se Rose eat muesli either so, despite her protestations, they let the Bewlar leave.”
“Oh, you let them leave, did you!” hissed Rose.
“What else could I do?” he asked. “They didn’t want to see you… eat muesli!”
Rose shook her head but didn’t say anything else.
“After the Bewlar left, the Emperor loosened her grip on Rose and headed towards the Doctor and Jack. Being humanoid herself she thought Jack was a rather appealing specimen and said she would spare his life if he… danced with her.
“Jack agreed to the dance and stepped closer to the Emperor, smiling his most charming smile at her. The Emperor giggled like a school girl…”
“That wasn’t a giggle,” said Jack, remembering the guttural snort.
“It was for her,” replied the Doctor. “As she giggled, her grip on Rose grew even looser and while she was distracted, Rose pulled away and grabbed her gun, turning the tables on her. The Doctor and Jack wrestled her to the floor.
“The Bewlar soon realised Rose was no longer in danger and returned to the Palace to reclaim their children. Once they had their children and their moon back, the Bewlar tried the Emperor and her guards and put them in prison.”
“I think he’s asleep,” said Jack, looking relieved.
Rose, who had nearly fallen asleep on Jacks shoulder sat up and smiled. “Yep.” She took a deep breath and gave a contented sigh, then stretched and went and sat beside the Doctor, smiling down at the bundle in his arms. “Works every time.” She whispered, kissing the Doctors cheek.
“We should market the Doctors stories as a sleep aid,” said Jack softly, standing up and yawning. “Well, if he’s finished screaming for a while, I think I’ll head back to bed. Night.”
The Doctor and Rose stood looking down at the small face which only a few minutes ago had been pink with fury. “He looks so sweet when he’s asleep,” said Rose. “You’d hardly believe he could make all that noise.”
“Shall we put him down and get some rest ourselves?”
Rose nodded enthusiastically. “I can’t wait until he goes through the night," she said, placing a tender kiss on the top of the baby's head.
When the Doctor returned to their room, sans baby, Rose was already asleep. The Doctor tried not to wake her as he climbed in beside her but she wiped her eyes and scooted across to him, resting her head on his shoulder.
“So what happened in the end then, Doctor?” she asked groggily.
The Doctor kissed the top of her head. He smiled to himself at his luck with this human girl. “The Doctor, Rose and Jack went back into the TARDIS, and they all lived happily ever after.”
